I was
fortunate to attend the building futures conference in February in St
Catherines. I chose to attend a workshop on building safe classrooms and
mental health in the classroom. I found both of these workshops extremely
useful and beneficial to me as a future teacher. I found the workshop
on mental health very interesting. I feel that children's mental health
is something so prevalent in today's classrooms and it is almost hard to
keep up to for educators and professionals. The presenter talked about
the importance of children's mental health knowledge for teachers
because we have more than just one job in the classroom. Teachers don't
just teach academics they do so much more for kids, and really do make a
difference in the life of a child.
As
a future teacher I hope to incorporate mental health initiatives and be
mental health aware of children's needs in my classroom.
As
for technology in the presentation it was done up on a clean easy to
read power point. I found it simple and clear and really got the point
across.
I unfortunately did not get a picture at the workshop.
